Curriculum
This course uses the classical method of Progymnasmata, which is a step-wise approach to teaching writing. Each textbook focuses on a different form of writing and a different aspect of rhetoric. CCA has a two-year rotation for this age group so students can step in either year. For the 2024-25 year students will be using Classical Academic Press’s Writing & Rhetoric Book 3: Narrative II (samples can be found on their website). Weekly grammar lessons and memory work will be taught in this class to better equip students to write well. Integrating fairy tales into class time will reinforce and further concepts taught by the Writing & Rhetoric curriculum. For a complete list of fairy tales to be taught, please contact the course instructor Kari Bass. (Families will not need to purchase the fairy tales.)
